Isla's recovery update - day after surgery

Isla had a fairly peaceful night last night (always tough to peacefully sleep with so many beeping machines, vitals being taken often, meds, and people coming in the room so often. So, peaceful sleep for her is a huge blessing!) She still needed constant oxygen support all night and through the day today.

Today was quite rough for her. Her pain levels prior to surgery were in a rough place and adding in a surgery now, it was a painful day.

She tried going for a few walks, but would have oxygen desaturation, so had to go back to resting often. She hasn't had much of an appetite and was quite sleepy. She kept asking "what's next" and if we had a "timer set" so we could be done at the hospital and go home. Precious girl wants to keep crossing things off a to-do list and just wants the comfort of home. She has been so brave.

Isla had two sets of x-rays done today. We tried to play anything we could while resting. Isla typically let's nothing stop her from playing, so we knew she really wasn't feeling well when all she wanted to do was lay and cuddle Mama.

Tonight we have tried turning off the oxygen again and she is staying fairly steady in a safe zone! Woohoo!!! Thank you, Lord!

If she can stay in that place through the night, her team feels it is safe to discharge her from the hospital in the morning.

We want to get our girl home 🩷

It is really incredible and a miracle that this surgery was able to happen. While there is still so much that is hard and heavy on our hearts, we are just so grateful to God for this miracle of another successful surgery. Not taking that for granted.

Lot on our minds and a lot to pray about moving forward.

Thank you for praying for Isla and our family.

Please pray for wisdom on when to travel... for smooth travel home - for it to not be painful for Isla and that she can rest well and feel peace through the flights. Oh! And prayer for kind airport and flight personnel.

Please pray we all stay healthy right now 🙏 and for Isla to have no complications through her recovery.
