Summer 2015

Hello! Well, it has been over two months since I last wrote a blog post and...I forgot to post it! Oops! It's posted now, but needless to say, I've been a little tired these last months! Many of you have asked if I will continue blogging...the answer is yes! There is much to update on...so I'll keep this post to some end of spring/beginning of summer happenings and more posts will follow with "Zeke stats" and more :) I'll aim to post more often than months apart!

It's time for an update! Thanks for all of you that have kept up with this Sindelar fam! We are in awe of the love and support and check-ins from you super kind folk! I'm going to try to keep our "summer so far" in a nut-shell...we'll see how this goes ;)

We are doing well...life still feels like a whirlwind...but a great whirlwind. Zeke is doing well, having a lot of fun this summer, got a chance to meet family in MN, exploring a bit more and learning more every day! He has changed and grown so very much! Zeke still has some emotional issues that we are helping him work through, but it's so amazing to watch him learn and grow!

From the last blog post...Zeke healed very well from the tonsil and adenoid removal. So thankful!
We, do now, have the sleep study scheduled for mid August that will help determine if another surgery is needed for the abnormal anatomy around Zeke's windpipe. During the second surgery, abnormal/extra tissue around Zeke's windpipe closed off his airway. There is a big medical term for that happening, but we'll just say windpipe tissue ;) We are just praying for a clear answer during the sleep study. (whether he has to have surgery to remove the tissue or not) We just want what is best for Zeke!
In June Zeke had a non-invasive urology surgery that was about a four week recovery.
He has recovered greatly from that! Again...so thankful!
We were able to be with Zeke until he was fully asleep for the surgery...and they had us come to recovery right after the surgery. This aids so much in helping Zeke to not be overcome with fear of where we are...we will always be there for him. With each surgery, Zeke is more and more aware and quite afraid. This last surgery was at Seattle Children's in Bellevue, WA. The staff was WONDERFUL there...they had every item you could imagine for distraction from the "scary stuff". The gave Zeke matchbox cars to keep and blew a million bubbles, which he just loved! We were so thankful for the care and concern for our little guy!

Once Zeke was making headway into recovery we focused on having some fun family time together.
with 3 surgeries in 4 months and only having been home with Zeke for just over 5 months at that time, we really needed to focus on some fun bonding. One of my boys' favorite things to do is fly the R.C. plane...well, Justin flies it and Zeke thinks he flies it ;) We can never do this too many times...the fun-o-meter is never low with this activity! :)

We are blessed to live near a great open space for flying the plane, kicking the soccer ball around, and just a place to let our little guy run, run, run! Fills our hearts to see him have so much fun!

We were able to take Zeke to the Woodland Park Zoo here in Seattle! He had so much fun having his cousins come too! We kept the visit a bit short...just wanted to try it out, but didn't want to overwhelm him...he had a great time...more zoo visits soon! :)

We took a full day and got to take Zeke to some of our favorite spots to visit near and on Whidbey Island! The family time of having fun was so great for Zeke...and Mama and Dada loved it too! :)

Another fun family activity that Zeke loves is being by the water! We've had a HOT summer here in WA...so going to the beach is a great activity :) (no air conditioning at home...boo!)

June 15th, 2015 was 6th months since our little guy was placed into our arms...into our lives!
It was amazing to hit that milestone and think about all that has happened in the last 6 months.
Zeke is such an amazing child. We are amazed by his bravery and in love with his joy.
LOVE FAMILY - LOVE ADOPTION

We had a big "meeting family in Minnesota" trip end of June-beginning of July.
It was such a special time for Zeke to meet so many loved ones...to see
how big his family is!
(A different blog post will be coming about that trip :)

Just a few days after arriving home from Minnesota, we got to celebrate Zeke's 2nd birthday!
This was the first birthday we have had to celebrate with him. It was very emotional in such a wonderful way. WE ARE TRULY BLESSED.
We took Zeke to see one of his all time favorites right now...THOMAS!
(Thanks to Aunt Becca for letting us know Thomas was going to be in our area!)

On July 16th, it marked one year since the day this little fella met us through our email.
We saw his little face and fell in love. We cannot believe everything that has happened in a year.
All we kept saying this last week in thinking about the anniversary of meeting our little guy through email, is that we are the luckiest. We could not be more thankful for this gift. Zeke Shuo Sindelar

So thankful for the journey
Love our miracle.
