Isla's 13th VEPTR surgery (expansion) - pre-op day

Update on today...

While it took Isla until 2am EST to fall asleep last night, she did sleep soundly until 8:30am! So thankful for that! We are all feeling quite tired...

Today started with breakfast and heading to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia mid morning. We had a lot of waiting between appointments. The overwhelm of another surgery is really hitting our sweet girl.

Isla handled today so bravely...even through feeling quite overwhelmed. She was able to communicate more with Dr. Anari and Emily (NP) and she was so patient through each step. She has had a lot of questions, many repeated... needing confirmation of each step and what will take place. As she is developing more and understanding a little more, bit by bit, her questions are becoming more detailed. She is so smart and notices and hears everything. Love her inquisitive mind! 💗 it breaks our hearts that she can't fully understand why this is all happening. Think of how hard that would be! We try to put ourselves in her shoes... she is so brave and so incredible! Strongest girl we know!

Isla's VEPTR rods still looked in place and ready for expansion. Dr. Anari hopes to have 2-3 expansion surgeries left with these rods, including this one, before needing to replace the rods.

Our day at CHOP was about 4 hours long. By the time that 4 hour mark hit, Isla needed to be done.

We found some food and searched for something fun for the kids to do.

Chick-Fil-A, a carousel, and mini-golf did the trick! Sweet to have a little brain break and spend some fun time together.

Here is our video of the day...

We hoped to just have a rest day tomorrow, but we may be headed back to CHOP for an appointment.

Please keep praying for Isla and our fam. Pray for us all to get a lot of deep sleep tonight, for peace for Isla and that she will feel supported through all the difficulties, and prayer for myself (molly) - my autoimmune issues are flared up... really not feeling well. Thank you for all the prayers, messages, and support. 💗

Loved this Bible verse that was sent to me...

"...do not be afraid. Peace be with you; take courage and be courageous!” Daniel 10:19

We continually see the Lord at work in every little detail. So thankful for his faithfulness 💗

Goodnight!
