The original plan for today was a full rest day, but we needed to head to CHOP this morning for Isla to attempt a pulmonary function test. She was so brave and we are so proud of her for trying so hard! They were not able to collect enough data, so we will try again another time. Glad for Isla to get experience with the equipment so it will be more familiar next time.
We were able to eat lunch at our hotel and head out into the sunshine for a quiet walk and park time. It was a gorgeous Autumn day! The boys did some frisbee golfing and Isla and I were able to go for a walk and play at a park. Thankful for the fresh air and smiles!
Need to note...Isla asked for me to make a video of the day and use her favorite song again. Too cute! She LOVES this song! (Make it through- Leanna Crawford)
Tomorrow is surgery day. Isla has continued asking a lot of questions and we are so proud of her being so brave to talk through the plan. It is quite incredible for your kiddo to be using medical verbiage like tourniquet, cannula, etc... we wish she wouldn't need to know those things so well, but we also know there is purpose through all of this. Nerves are a bit high... but there has been sweet peaceable moments for Isla, too. Thanking God for giving Isla such courage even when the circumstances feel so scary. Also so grateful that she has been able to communicate more and more...even openly telling us what she needs sometimes! We can't say it enough...SHE IS SO BRAVE.
Please pray for Isla to be able to get really deep sleep tonight... for all of us to sleep! The time difference is tough.
We will be checking in for surgery at 8:30am tomorrow. The plan is for another expansion of Isla's VEPTR rods. We are hoping and praying for just one night in the hospital...to be able to get our girl home to recover as soon as possible.
We cannot thank you all enough for all the love and support for our warrior girl. We have shared the messages and photos with Isla that you all have sent!
If you have a HOPE for Isla shirt...please wear it tomorrow and share a photo with us if you can!
