Isla's 7th VEPTR surgery - February 2021 - Pre-op Day

Today was a very full day...
It was not an easy one...but God was faithful to bring little moments of joy through the hard.
Isla really is understanding where she is, what is happening, and it was really tough for her to go through all the appointments and testing today.
She did really enjoy her time meeting with her surgeon Dr. Anari, which was a sweet blessing to see.
She gave Dr. Anari and two of the nurses the "Hope for Isla" shirts!
He was so sweet to put it on right away and said he will wear it under his scrubs on surgery day :)
Two Isla quotes from our time with him were:
"We're havin' a good time"! and "WOW mom! Dr. Anari is TALL!" hehehe!

We have a lot we are processing after today. We are not going to share too many details, but we will say this is a really complex and difficult surgery. Revision of VEPTR rods is one thing, but with all her complex fusion, it adds a whole other unique component to the surgery.
Please be praying for Isla, her surgeon, medical team, Justin and I.
We feel both full of gratefulness for this team fighting for Isla and heartbreak at the same time from what our sweet girl is facing. It can feel very hard to explain...but this is just hard.

We praise God that he goes before us and behind us.

Thank you for praying for Isla and our family!

Make sure to wear your "Hope for Isla" shirts on Friday and please pray for Isla!
*please share a photo with us if you feel comfortable to do so!
